CHAPTER 15

Brooklyn

I stayed in the guys’ hotel room for a full twenty-four hours, but my heat never came, not even a hot flash.

They’d done a great job of keeping me sidetracked by asking about my life, my business, my family, and telling me about themselves.

Being with them felt easy and natural, but after we were sure my heat wasn’t hitting, I excused myself to decompress in my hotel room alone for a while.

We had all carefully avoided the courting subject, as well as the misunderstanding that had occurred in high school.

As I sat on my hotel room balcony, staring out at the ocean, I started thinking about it again.

There had to be a discussion on what they expected of me if we did court or end up mating. We lived in neighboring states, so someone would have to move. If I moved, that would mean moving my business headquarters as well. I knew most of my employees would not be up for a relocation, especially not the mated omegas I had on staff.

My parents and sisters had freaked out even more when I told them about the second kidnapping, but I figured it was better they learn from me than the news. Dad had demanded I come stay with them, but when I informed them that I was meeting with a potential pack, they had all shut up.

Because that was their ultimate goal, after all.

Exhaling harshly to try to rid my body of the annoyance I didn’t want to harbor felt good.

Out on the beach, I caught sight of three familiar male figures carrying boogie boards out with them.

They were incredibly nice to look at, and also just incredibly nice. Tyler had even gone into town to get the food I’d requested yesterday. Something I felt bad about, because I hadn’t ended up going into heat.

The guys removed their shirts, set them down on lounge chairs, and continued out into the water, smiles on their faces as they talked.

What would life be like with them? Kirk was retired, and focusing on hobbies like woodworking. Tyler was living on the royalties from his music and tours, but also creating music in his private studio at their mansion, and posting it on music sites. Buck was doing his motivational speaking, and coaching, and had a video gaming hobby.

How could I incorporate myself into their lives?

How would they incorporate into mine? At the moment, I spent a lot of time in the office or working on new plans and designs. Would they be interested in helping me with my business?

Too many questions without answers only made me irritated.

The urge to do something, anything, hit me, and I quickly messaged Alexa and Stacy in the group chat we had created.
